What you need to know

Want to install a connected greenhouse and join our Pioneer Community? Above all, there are several essential pieces of information that we need to give you.

So READ CAREFULLY the following:

1. Before the greenhouse arrives - preparations and checks

Prepare your pitch for the greenhouse installation.

i. You are responsible for choosing the location of the greenhouse. The greenhouse must be positioned in a well-lit, accessible and non-floodable area (upstream of any water runoff).

Lumière, accessibilité et zone non inondable.

Lumière, accessibilité et zone non inondable.

ii. A single-phase 230V electrical power supply must be provided at the location of the greenhouse, with the sheath, wiring or channel specifically provided for the outside. The electrical supply must be made at the entrance on the left into the greenhouse, according to the plan below:

Raccordement électrique pour la serre family (point rouge). Point d'arrivée en eau conseillée (point bleu).

Plan family22 (Voir fiche technique correspondante pour les autres serre)

Maximum power in use

The greenhouse with all accessories and options activated (led kit, radiator, heating resistors, etc.) can require up to 3200W of power per period.

For comparison, a coffee machine or a vacuum cleaner can be up to 2500W.

Please provide outdoor cable sizing to connect the greenhouse with your home installation: minimum 3x2.5mm ² with a suitable electrical sheath .

Electrical protection

The electrical supply must be directly from a standard 230V domestic panel equipped with a 16A - 30mA differential switch and a divisional circuit breaker (10A for the City, 16A for the Family) on the power line .

iii. The water must be accessible on the installation area of the greenhouse for the filling of the basins.

It is interesting to use as much rainwater as possible in the operation of the greenhouse. With climate change, it is not uncommon to have several months without precipitation. We advise you to work on a total water storage capacity of 2000L at your place of installation.

A water inlet can also be provided at the greenhouse in order to operate an osmosis unit if necessary.

iv. If you are installing solar panels, it is important to study the location of the greenhouse with regard to brightness (pay attention to the shade of trees and buildings).

A connected greenhouse also requires some preparation. Do not neglect these preliminary works, they are essential and without them the technician will not be able to carry out the installation.

🚧

Level up your floor perfectly

What does that mean? How to do it? Don't be afraid, it's not complicated, we explain everything in detail and in pictures here.

For the Family greenhouse, it is *very important * to level and earthworks perfectly flat, smooth and level.

If you have subscribed to a paid installation: on the day of installation, if the ground has not been perfectly levelled and compacted or if the slab has defects, myfood will be entitled to postpone the installation, which will incur additional costs. Depending on the schedule and the constraints on site, the installer will eventually have the possibility to correct the defects of the floor. For this, myfood will charge €80 per half day of additional work.

Make sure you are in compliance with planning regulations.

In France, you may be forced to take certain steps before installing your greenhouse.

City: no declaration to be made Family: prior declaration of work (Preliminary declaration)

This declaration usually has a response time of 1 month (up to 3 months for an area that is within the perimeter of a remarkable heritage site or in the vicinity of historical monuments). Also pay attention to the special rules if you are in a subdivision, a non-constructible agricultural area, a flood zone or if there are specific rules in your municipality (set by a municipal decree).

For any clarification, contact your interlocutor to be accompanied in these steps. Myfood cannot be held responsible in the event of the need for disassembly.

PLU 👍 compliance and prior declaration (France only)

Myfood accompanies you throughout the project to study compliance with urban planning regulations * * and offers you the * *assumption of the formalities of prior declaration as soon as the quote is signed.

2. Delivery in good conditions

The delivery location and itinerary must meet several specific criteria.

i. The packaging of the products is said to be "outside transport standards", which is why it requires a truck equipped with a device to unload the pallets on arrival. These special trucks are rare and expensive, the carrier organizes delivery groupings by sector to reduce costs, which explains the announced delivery times.

Delivery 📘 Appointment

ii. During week 2 after signing the quote, you will receive a form to select the delivery date that will take place week 7 (see the schedule below in 5.).

iii. We strive to meet the delivery deadline, but certain weather and unforeseen road conditions may compromise the schedule.

iv. Products are delivered to the delivery address you provided to us during the ordering process. Delivery is in front of your property or at the foot of your building.

v. In some cases where logistical conditions dictate, we will need to arrange two separate deliveries (greenhouse and cropping system).

A. Access

Transport is included in the price for delivery in Metropolitan France under standard reception conditions (two-lane street, asphalt floor, gate width > 3.80 m or sidewalk delivery). A delivery with specific access must be made on quotation.

i. For standard delivery access must be possible to a semi-trailer truck and a sufficient area to allow unloading and release maneuvers of the delivery vehicle. Given the very large nature of our items, specific logistical means must be deployed. Deliveries are usually made by 19 ton trucks, and therefore, only places accessible by road are deliverable.

ii. To access your home, you must have an access road at least 3.80 m wide. The carrier undertakes to use only asphalt or concrete roads but not stone or earth paths. The truck is positioned as close as possible to the unloading location accessible under the conditions set out herein and without risk to people, property or infrastructure.

iii. Please send us photos and a short video that illustrates the street and access to your property.

Specific ❗️ access (on quote)

Please let us know if:

  1. Your street is not accessible to vehicles weighing 3.5 tons or more.
  2. Your street is a dead end or one-way street.
  3. Your gate is less than 3.80 wide.
  4. Your access is not tarmac.

B. Delivery with tailgate and pallet truck.

Our semi-trailer assemblies are equipped with handling means for unloading.

i. The floor covering between the sidewalk and this storage location shall be suitable for pallet transport. Note that if the entrance to the property is made of gravel or other impassable pavement, the pallets will remain on the sidewalk (the pallet truck cannot be used in case of gravel or steep terrain). In this case, the transfer of the pallet between the place of deposit and the place of storage will remain the responsibility of the recipient.

ii. Delivery must be made no later than 8 weeks after signing the quote and upon receipt of the validation notice of the prior declaration. A monthly storage fee will apply in case of postponement of the delivery date by the customer. Payment for the equipment is made as soon as delivery is made. Beware of late payment which could cause the installation to be postponed.

iii. The road should be paved to allow the truck to make a U-turn easily.

IMPORTANT

If any of these conditions are not met and the driver is unable to pick up or unload the pallets, delivery and installation will be postponed, which may result in additional charges. Be sure to make all your observations and limitations in this regard to your myfood contact in writing to avoid any surprises.

C. Unloading.

Unloading must be carried out in the presence of the customer unless otherwise agreed.

i. Let the pros do it! It is not your responsibility to unload. To avoid injury or damage to equipment, do not help unload or wear anything. In the event of a breakage, you would also be held liable.

ii. Don't start unpacking. You must not unpalletize and open packages unless it has been agreed with the myfood team.

iii. Reservations. If you notice defective, open packaging, damaged or broken parts, immediately note specific reservations on the delivery note that the carrier will ask you to sign. Visually make sure the number of packages matches the number shown. Any significant tears in the plastic film, which may cause damage, must be mentioned on the delivery note and noted by the driver. In case of deterioration or if you have any doubt about the condition of the goods, contact us and immediately express reservations on the document delivered by the carrier, requesting its counter-signature.

To be valid, reservations must be:

  • written: formulated at the time of delivery on the delivery note
  • precise: describing the delivery anomalies and the damage suffered by the goods (and not exclusively by the packaging) with the reference or the name of the parts concerned
  • complete: only the damage mentioned in the reserves will be considered as existing at the time of delivery
  • confirmed in writing within 3 clear days if they have been contradicted by our driver and in any case for shipments of 3 tonnes and more

Finally, it is essential to take photos of the goods in order to simplify the resolution of any dispute.

Our kits follow a rigorous control process limiting errors or shortcomings.

D. Storage of pallets between delivery and the start of installation.

i. In the event that you have subscribed to a paid installation, you must provide a storage location for the goods within 20 meters of the greenhouse installation site. In case of greater or complicated distance (stairs, slope, crossing the house, etc.), please discuss it with your myfood advisor as it is important to include it in your project. Where applicable, the unscheduled handling service will be invoiced at €80 excl. tax per hour of labour. The risk is also that the installation cannot be completed within the expected timeframe. In this case, our installer will have to leave the site and the replanning could be invoiced.

ii. From the delivery, you are the owner and therefore responsible for the greenhouse and the equipment.

IMPORTANT

To avoid any degradation, it is preferable to leave the greenhouse and the equipment well dry by storing them away from rain, sun, or any other external factor likely to degrade them. If this is not possible, the pallets can remain outside for a few weeks, and you must provide tarpaulins to cover and protect each pallet (including that of the glasses and profiles of the greenhouse).

iii. The glass and profiles palette of the greenhouse must ABSOLUTELY be stored flat.

3. With your installer

Thank you for being present to welcome your installer on the day agreed by appointment.

i. Except in cases of force majeure, your installer is required to respect the agreed time of arrival. Thank you for being there to welcome them and tell them where to store and install them. In the event of an unannounced absence of the customer and without the possibility of contacting you, the installer will wait 30 minutes. Beyond that, the installation will be postponed, which may result in additional costs.

ii. Please inform the installer of any special features of the installation site or specific precautions to be taken: difficulty of access (GPS coordinates to be communicated), dangerous access, site regulations, alarms, objects not to be touched, etc.

iii. The location of the greenhouse must be clearly demarcated to facilitate the installer's work.

iv. You will jointly complete with your installer a report (PV) of acceptance of the work before construction site and after construction site.

With regard to the pre-construction report, it is the installer who fills it out, in particular by providing the following information:

  • land ready / not ready,
  • wetland
  • insufficient space on the sides for passage and handling, (allow a minimum of 50cm of passage during installation)
  • presence of trees, difficult access,
  • presence of animals to be monitored,
  • presence of children on the site,
  • hardware presence and storage
  • etc.

It is then up to you to sign it, in which case you accept any costs and additional costs incurred. Please also complete with your own reservations (limitations and points of attention, areas to avoid, specific instructions).

You can also refuse to sign this report if you do not agree with the statement drawn up by the installer. In this case, the installer leaves without installing the greenhouse. However, be sure to contact your myfood contact before making any decisions.

Regarding the post-site report, you can declare any damage caused by the installer (damaged lawn, peeled wall, damaged furniture, missing equipment, other disputes, etc.), and you must indicate that the greenhouse is well functional.

v. Assembly cannot be carried out in the event of heavy frosts, if the ground is soggy or inverted. Tip: If frost is reported, cover the assembly site with a tarpaulin. This way you can avoid a possible postponement.

vi. For regions subject to strong and frequent winds (coastline, mountain, valley), the location of the greenhouse must seek to limit the direct right-of-way to disturbances. A specific anchorage can be proposed to strengthen the hold of the greenhouse over time.

vii. Packaging, cartoning and pallets will not be taken back. Thank you for taking care of waste management. Please note that you can purchase a waste removal option from myfood for €200 excl. tax.

📘

Accuracy of use

While our community is characterized by mutual support and collaboration, it is not your responsibility to host or feed the installer. Even if he is extremely friendly, remember that he is still a service provider and is not your responsibility.

4. After installing the greenhouse (the adventure begins!)

myfood trains and informs you.

Our installers perform a global functional test at the end of the installation.

Technical training in the use of our greenhouses is done remotely:

i. Before and after installation, you can check the wiki, a collaborative encyclopedia that comprehensively brings together all the information about the greenhouse. ii. When delivering your greenhouse, we give you a starter box with all the useful accessories for maintenance and good practices. iii. From the installation of the greenhouse, you have access to your connected dashboardtotraining videos, as well as the Teams collaboration platform to interact with the Pioneers and receive their tips and tricks. iv. On a regular basis, we also organize webinars (online conference) to exchange with the whole Community. v. The team of agronomists supervises all the greenhouses installed and they may have to contact you to support you in your experience.

If you have any questions, feel free to share your questions, photos, etc. directly on the online community.

Community & Transparency

myfood is committed to sharing its knowledge and results in order to achieve a real ecological and social transition together, through the reappropriation of its food.

Safety instructions you must know

In the starter box, you will find detailed safety instructions to follow.

From now on, we draw your attention to the following points of vigilance:

  • Monitor the humidity level of the greenhouse, to prevent material and plants from rotting,
  • The greenhouse is made of glass, so watch out for broken glass,
  • Look where you put your feet, a fall in the greenhouse can be dangerous,
  • If you have children, be extremely vigilant when leaving the doors open, and provide a padlock to close access to the greenhouse (there is indeed a risk of drowning or hydrocution)

Commitments and maintenance

If the system is not maintained following our recommendations, the risks may be as follows:

  • Plants can show signs of disease, grow slowly, wither or even die.
  • Fish may also show signs of weakening or even dying.
  • Fish can jump out of ponds.

Please note that myfood cannot be held responsible for the risks stated above. We are required to provide the Pioneers with all the information and support necessary to resolve the identified malfunctions.

6. Warranties of our products

Our products are subject to several guarantees:

  • Legal guarantees in case of hidden defects, non-conformity or defect.
  • Commercial warranties, which differ depending on the products.

The City greenhouse and the Family greenhouse are subject to a 12-year declining warranty against manufacturing defects, subject to assembly in accordance with the installation instructions and/or video. On moving parts, such as door wheels and hinges, we offer a 2-year declining warranty. We replace each item that does not meet standard standards free of charge. This warranty includes any damage caused by defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty is assigned to the original owner and is non-transferable. This warranty excludes any damage caused by faulty and irresponsible use or any damage caused by exceptional natural phenomena. On the glazing, the warranty is not valid. The cultivation system (pond, table, wood structure, irrigation and filtration system, electrical box, measuring box, ventilation, bubbler) is subject to a 2-year warranty.

Grow towers are guaranteed for 20 years, while their foam is guaranteed for 2 years.

Optional modules (comfort, winter, solar, housing, insulation, finishing, lighting, spirulina, water collectors, screw platform) are guaranteed for 2 years. The perma module is guaranteed for 5 years. Solar panels are guaranteed for 12 years (with a 25-year linear power warranty).

Our warranty covers parts, but not labor. Repair services are invoiced on a flat-rate basis, on quotation.

Greenhouse non-sealing The greenhouse is designed to operate in a humid environment. Projections or infiltration of water inside may occur. An internal gutter collects the condensation from the windows and evacuates it to the outside. It is possible that water may occasionally flow on the floor or on the growing elements. These elements are designed to withstand moisture and water splashes. No guarantee of total tightness can be given in this respect.

❗️

Caution

No changes must be made to the electronic circuit, electronic boxes, pump and filtration system, under penalty of voiding your warranty.

For any specific needs, please contact our customer service who will validate with the technical service any changes to be made to the system. It is important to note that electronic equipment (especially sensors) is sensitive to shocks, it is imperative to handle them carefully.

7) Research and development.

A community approach to ecological transition

Becoming a pioneer means becoming an actor in ecological agriculture research.

Our solutions are part of a research and development process.

Our goal is the continuous improvement of knowledge in agroecology and aquaponics (through data collection and interpretation). We aim through the deployed facilities to make further technical improvements to the product (cultivation system, bioclimatic control, etc.) and the process (vertical agriculture, aquaponics, biopony, permaculture).

As such, by acquiring a connected greenhouse, you are contributing to this process. In this context, you are producers of information and agree that data may be used to improve the knowledge and optimization of our products.

You also accept to some extent the uncertainties regarding the results of the agricultural production of the connected greenhouse. You also agree that myfood may, after installation, make improvements to your greenhouse or rectify problems that may arise during the use of the equipment.

Software/Hardware Updates

All Pioneers who have joined the community have free access to the software, allowing them to access a constantly renewed and improved experience. Successive updates and continuous improvement of the software and database do not involve new invoicing.

Also, the purchase of hardware updates and new module versions is offered during our upgrades. However, the acquisition of this equipment is by no means mandatory: if you do not wish to benefit from it, you can continue to use your greenhouse as it is.

Eco-responsible approach to equipment

When updating electronic equipment, you have the option to return the old components to us. They will be upgraded or recycled.

Use of products not supported by our teams

You can naturally use third-party products (seeds, fish, supplements, etc.).

However, we do not recommend it for three reasons:

  • you will not be able to use the warranty if a problem occurs in the greenhouse due to the use of foreign products or equipment
  • this excludes our liability if damage is caused by the use of these products or materials
  • our support will not be relevant for third party elements

Safety record

Before you start, please take note of the safety elements to be observed when using our products.

9. Miscellaneous

Image Rights

By becoming a Pioneer at myfood, you agree that the company may use the photos posted on the Teams channel as well as photos taken with your agreement on its communication media.

Insurance

To protect your greenhouse against all hazards (accidental glass breakage, storm, etc.), we strongly recommend that you insure your greenhouse.

The whole team wishes you success in this new life experience.
